There are three sizes in this set. The smallest size is almost too small to be any good....would not make a meal even for a very young child. The larger one is about the right size but would still not be much of a meal for an adult. Would recommend buying a set of all larger sizes or you will be making many, many pockets especially if you are doing any entertaining. They are hard to work with also because they are so small they do not cut the dough very well. Made of very lightweight plastic and have a tendency to move around while you are working with them. I will look around for more heavy duty presses to purchase.Too small for empanadas. I have similar ones and purchased two of these to send to my Mother and her friend, who make empanadas to raise funds for their church. My Mom saw me use mine and liked the ease of using them to make empanadas, instead of the old fashion way. It was comical to take them out of the box and see how tiny they were. Seriously toddler size. These will work for little finger cheese pastries, guava pastries and the like, but a real PR would never feed her family tiny sized empanadas. The size of the box is the size that I need. I purchased two and it came out to about $12. I don't think it's worth returning them. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I purchased mine. I think it was at Harmon's, but they don't have any and neither does Bed, Bath & Beyond. So, back to the search.I bought this so that I could make small tarts to take to my bridge club. I first tried them out with my granddaughters and we had a ball making them. I used the largest press and made a cream cheese pastry dough. Regular dough didn't work as well. Instead of rolling out the large ball, we made small balls. That way there was less waste. We used cooked apricots for the filling, but I'm going to use mincemeat around the holidays. We've used them to make wontons, and all three sizes do the job. You just have to experiment and decide which size you prefer. As others have pointed out, the key is to avoid over-filling. After a few messy outcomes, you will discover that what seems like far too little filling is actually about right. Also, we had good luck when we completely submerged each wonton wrapper in a bowl of water before placing it in the press and putting the filling in place. The edges then stick together nicely when you operate the press. The excess can be trimmed off after gently removing the completed wonton. The process takes a bit of practice, but in the long run it's a lot easier (in my opinion) than forming wontons by hand. These work great, they are small. The smallest will make a pie half the size of a ping pong ball and the largest pie fits about a table spoon of filling and the pie is Palm sized. They do not seem like they will last long because they are cheaper quality than others I have owned. Great seller and not bad all in all for the price.but the larger size is still too small for the already made round dough I buy for empanadillas. But if you make your own dough these are perfect for small to bit size empanadillas. The dough really bonds tight together...and it also cuts the dough when pressed, so the extra can be reused. But I don't make the dough, I buy it already made, so I will need to buy two more, one larger than the other because the already dough comes in small and large round precut size.I love the fact that these have a dough cutter on the back side so that you get the perfect size cut every time. The sizes are smaller than I expected, but that works for me, as I love maing mini pastries. These are great for mini pies, turnovers, and empanadas. This product does not have the quality that I was expecting. The hinges disengage which makes it neither durable or practical to use when baking. In a pinch I would use it otherwise, I prefer to use any glass or circular object for my press/cutout and pinch the ends as required with fingertips or a fork. Not worth the wait or the price.
