I bought this espresso maker because I was attracted to the fact that the unit looked good and the reviews were pretty decent, or at least I perceived them to be. The maker looks like its built pretty solid. Lifting it it does have some heft to it. I bought the chrome and black version. The chrome/ brushed metal makes it look very nice.Now, lets get to how it works. I bought this while I was on the road for my house mate so she could make espresso in the morning. The first thing I hear from her is that it doesn't work. That's not something you want to hear about a $100+ purchase. She said she read the manual and followed it. This is where this unit, in my opinion, has some design issues. The interface is not intuitive. It has three buttons on the front and a pressure/temp gauge. One button is a power button, one button is for making espresso and one is for putting the unit into frothing mode that boosts the temp so there's steam. All three buttons are push toggle. You push the button in and it stays in (on) and you push it in again (all the way) and it comes out (off). The espresso pump will not work if the frothing button is on, this the issue my house mate had.Unlike some other espresso units I've bought this unit doesn't measure singles and doubles. The pump is either on or off and it's up to you to have the proper measuring cups to measure a single or double. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Maybe I was just spoiled by the other units I've had.Let's talk about the manual. One word describing it, it's atrocious. The whole manual is on a small piece of paper, front and back. The type is extremely small and requires a magnifying glass to read. If you're going to sell anything in the U.S. like this a proper manual is a must. This doesn't even come close. The English is terrible and sometimes it leaves you going "Wait, um, what?". The company cut corners on this. They need to pay someone who knows English and how to create a proper manual.While I ripped the unit and company a bit the fact is that I got it working. It does pull a good cup. I am not thrilled that the pressure makes steam come out of the head and filter when put in frothing mode. If you have coffee in it from pulling a cup then it's going to leak out. This should have been built better. While my house mate has started the return process I haven't decided whether or not to do so. It works and while it's not perfect it could be a good interim while I'm saving up for a Delonghi.Some sellers approach individuals with bribes asking them to remove bad reviews. This is a warning to this seller. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Make a good product.
