I have tried several products, here is my story:Before returning to work (this past January 2015, son was 3 months old) my supply was not really an issue (I didn’t have a surplus in my freezer supply, but I could feed him all day long without any drouts). I did supplement occasionally when I was out & about & did not want to nurse in public. When I returned to work I was pumping about 15 ounces on average per day (that’s 3 pump sessions about 30 minutes each).I had been using these two items:Traditional Medicinal’s Organic Mother's Milk (tastes like black licorice, which I do not like)Gaia Herbs - Lactate Support Liquid Phyto Caps (makes you very bloated & gassy – the painful bloating). The problem with these pills is that you’re supposed to take them between meals, & being that I’m a nursing mom, I snack almost all day long. Especially when I’m nursing or pumping. I did not notice a drastic improvement when taking these. When I initially took them my son was very gassy & they constipated him. I stopped taking them until he was 3 months old, assuming his stomach would be stronger & it was. He can now handle me taking these without an impact on his little stomach.Around Valentine ’s Day (son was 4.5 months old at the time) I had a really bad sinus infection for over a week & broke down & took antibiotics. I pumped & dumped for a few days, but overall for about 2.5-3 weeks I did not pump as much as I should have. One of those days a portion of my pump broke, & I did not have a replacement piece on me…it was a series of unfortunate events. And of course my son had trouble with having to go onto formula full time…anyhow; when I started pumping again (about 2.5-3 weeks later) I was lucky if I could get 6 ounces a day with 2-3 pump sessions at 30 minutes a piece. And when I was home at night I was able to nurse sometimes, but other times I did not have enough milk to nurse my son, so I was giving him more formula at night.I contemplated switching to formula at this point; it would have made life so much easier. But I want the best for my son…I decided to try a few more highly rated lactation support products from Amazon – I love to read the reviews! That’s why I’m adding my son’s age on this review, so you can compare with your own situation. I had heard that when your supply begins to dwindle, it will take you as long as it did to lose it to rebuild it. Keep in mind that I’m using about 4 different products in combination. But I have definitely seen improvements within the last week that I started using the below 3 products! Here’s the other products I ended up purchasing:Buddha's Herbs Premium MILKY CLOUD TEA – this does not taste like the “Mother’s Milk” tea ! This is actually a lot smoother, I am a weirdo & do not add sugar or honey, but the flavor is not bad & I do not think this makes me feel as bloated as the “Mother’s Milk” tea. I’ve only had about 8 bags of tea within the last week, so I’m not sure how well this is working.Gaia Herbs Fenugreek Seed Liquid Phyto-Capsules - I believe these work pretty well! It is hard to say since I’ve added this & the below (Maxi Milk) into my mix of lactation boosters. But these pills do not make me feel bloated/gassy. You take these after meals. I have been taking 3 pills after each meal (3 times a day). This came in the mail a few (3) days before the below (Maxi Milk), so I can say that I noticed improvement with this alone. I am now ordering this on subscription.Maxi Milk 4oz – I believe this is doing wonders! I am adding about 4 droppers full in about ¾ cup of water about 4 times per day. I will say that it tastes horrible & I want to gag every time I taste it. However, my son is worth it!Keep in mind that my son is now 5 months old, so I had an established milk supply prior to starting these last few products. If I had been using these right after my milk came in I believe I’d have been gushing milk. I did not pump much when I was home for those 3 months with my son, I should have pumped more so that I’d have had lots of milk on hand in my freezer stash. My advice to any new mother is that your hormones are higher after giving birth, & that your milk supply is critical within the first 6 weeks. Pump as much as you can, I know it’s hard because sometimes you’re so tired you are only getting 2 hours of sleep a night, but pump – pump – PUMP! It will keep your supply up so that you do not have supply issues later. And have lots of water, almonds, carrots, & oatmeal! Oatmeal can seriously help! It’s been about 5 days since I started using the last 2 products, & this past weekend I only had to give my son 2 bottles of formula. That is a drastic improvement! Today I’ve pumped 8.5 ounces. It’s not the 15 ounces I used to pump, but it’s up from 6 ounces. Plus, I pumped a 3 ounce bottle before I left for work. And I know I’ll have enough milk to feed him when I get home from work & I’m able to nurse him through the night. So, overall these products have worked for me. I also eat oatmeal at least once a day & that has always helped me. When I’m able to get my milk supply back to pumping 15 ounces during a work day, I will update this post!
