Making sourdough from a starter, feeding it, and keeping it at some steady state can sometimes feel like a scientific exercise. Flour, water and starter ratios may feel intimidating, but once you are over this initial hurdle, the fun begins.This set is one that truly has one main use - to feed the sourdough base. It comes with really useful extras - I like both the temperature strip (no batteries, fully passive), as well as the rubber band around it for the feeding schedule. I found it a pretty smart design, and does not require you to sharpie on the glass itself. The jar is large, and easily accessible for cleaning and adding the water/flour or removing the dough. In fact, the jar (and the lid) are useful by themselves as a sealed container, so it will enjoy a different usage if I ever give up on sourdough bread making.The other added items (sponge, scraper, cloth, elastic rings) I did not pay too much attention to, since I had the tools already, but they might come handy for those who just start from total scratch.
