Pull the trigger and buy it. It’s worth it.Use as a scraper for my black stone, pit boss grill.I selected this specific scaper because it was made in the USA. I am thrilled with the quality. The scaper has a nice weight and feels good in my hand. The edge is sharp and straight. And it was ordered yesterday afternoon and I'm using it today! Life is good!Easy to clean my butcher block. It’s perfect. Spend a few extra dollars and support American businesses and American workers. It is a sturdy, well made tool that looks great, too.I ordered this scraper for bread making and it did not disappoint. It is also useful for scooping up chopped veggies into a pot. The wood handle, however, has been a disappointment. I have other Dexter products with wood handles that have held up well for years. After its first couple of uses the wood has become rough and splintered. I plan at some point on sanding it down hoping to get a smoother feel. I expected more from this quality-driven company.if you're willing to put in a bit of extra effort, this is a great kitchen tool.i purchased two: one for me and one as a gift. i spent a little time with some 320 grit sandpaper cleaning up the handle and giving the 90 degree edges a subtle chamfer. deburred the blade so i could safely scrape against countertops or boards without risk of scratching them. applied a few coats of cutting board oil to the handle.i expect this thing to last a lifetime.I wanted a high-quality dough scraper/bench knife and kept coming back to this one from Dexter-Russell. This is a simple piece of kitchen equipment so there's no sense in belaboring the point other than to say that it's a pleasure to still be able to find a US-made product, and of such high quality, to boot. I'm going to take the manufacturer at his word that the handle is walnut; whatever it is, it's beautiful (although I wish the ends had been sanded smooth) and feels wonderful in the hand. The blade is stainless steel and has a good edge (I wouldn't subject it to the rigors of granite or marble too often, though, unless you want to deal with sharpening it). It has a nice heft when being used and, contrary to a previous review, there's no evidence whatsoever that the tang protrudes on either side of the handle--mine is seated perfectly.I do recommend using a wood conditioner on the handle periodically to keep it in good shape but other than that, care is easy: just keep it clean and don't subject any part of the handle to water for extended periods (I hand-wash mine). If you treasure good tools and want a scraper that's nice enough to think of in terms of passing on to someone dear, look no further.I make sourdough bread and this bench scraper is perfect for dividing the dough cleanly and removing sticky dough from countertops.
