Upon opening these tools, I noticed some rough edges and splinters on a few of the tools, but I thought I would sand them a little to make them work. However, as my kids began to use them with playdough even the tools that did not have rough edges ended up with playdough sticking to them. It was not easy to clean it off, so I had to wash them with a scrub brush. If your kids are using more than one color of playdough, this becomes an even worse mess. The other problem was that 2 tools with rolling wheels (like a pizza cutter) were so shallow that you can't cut with them, just make dents. I am very unhappy with this purchase and cannot recommend.
